Southend Murray Grey Bull Sale Catalogue 2017

Message from Kurt Wise, Stud Principal:

I extend a warm welcome to new and past clients to Southend’s 21st annual on property sale. At Southend I am continuing to breed a true 100% pure Murray Grey with a soft silver coat, plenty of meat, growth and calve, with minimal complications. I strongly believe that this is the type of cattle that suit our industry and will further this stud and breed.
Looking forward to 2017 calving season, we will introduce a couple of new AI sires .  We will also see the first drop of Wallawong Xyris this coming this calving season.
This season has been very favourable for livestock here in Katanning. With summer rain bringing good sub surface moisture, an early break to the season saw great early feed. A cold wet winter made for a very long period of green and a good spring flush. With the cattle utilising this they have come into the summer period as good as we have ever seen.
Cattle markets continue to be very positive and are still maintaining very high levels even through the glut period. Domestic and international cattle numbers are increasing with the price maintaining at this stage which is a positive indicator that out product still has a strong demand.
Some say looking forward there may be a price correction due to supply and demand. I think that when prices have been as high as they have been we are all a part of a new exciting era of beef production.

Southend’s 21st Bull Sale

Our 21st sale will consist of 40 bulls, 10 registered heifers and 50 unregistered heifers from a very genetically diverse line up of bulls with 12 sires represented.
Five of the bulls will be raising 12 mouths old and we have been able to produce this catalogue by using natural mating along with AI to broaden the range of genetic availability. This has been without straying from my direction of breeding the Southend type of cattle with good shape, temperament, plenty of meat, easy doing and calve with minimal complications.
On a personal note I would like to thank my family for the assistance and support throughout the year. Amy and I got married on the 12th of March last.

I hope you have had a great past season and wish you the best for the coming season.

Kind Regards
Kurt Wise
Stud Principal
